The word is used as an adjective to describe a person who is not easily convinced about something and often questions or doubts the truth. The word “skeptical” is used to mean “doubtful”「疑っている」or “not easily convinced”「容易に信じない」.
Let’s take a look at example sentences.
1. I am skeptical of the reviews posted on that website. (私はそのウェブサイトに掲載されているレビューを疑っています。)
2. He remained skeptical even after seeing the evidence.(証拠を見た後でも、彼は疑っていた。)
3. The teacher was skeptical of the student’s excuse for being late.(先生はその生徒の遅刻の言い訳を疑っていた。)
So basically when you are skeptical you are not really trusting anything or anyone and your mind is constantly asking “Is this true?” “It better not be a lie!!” But thinking positively you are being cautious making decisions!!
BTW, Im pretty a skeptical chic, too!! LOL
